Shadow Days

A day in the life of a music major at OSU

Students arrive in the morning to be greeted by a “shadow” student for the day.  Our guests will attend a music theory class, enjoy a voice lesson with one of our applied voice faculty, campus tour, lunch with music students, sing with one of our choirs, meet the faculty, and a whole lot more.


For prospective Fall 2018 students

  • Monday, February 19, 2018, 9:00 am - 4:30 pm

8:45   Arrival/Check In
9:30   Attend Music Theory/History Course with an undergraduate music student
10:30   Voice Lesson
11:00   Meeting with Dr. Stroope
11:30   Lunch with undergraduate music students
12:30   Campus Tour
1:30-3:30   Free Time/Audition (audition must be scheduled in advance)

Sunday, February 25, 2018, Audition only, 1:00 - 4:30 pm

NOTE: All auditions are held at the Seretean Center for the Performing Arts on the southeast corner of the OSU campus. Please proceed to Room 122.

The audition determines:

  • Acceptance as a voice major at OSU
  • Whether a student will be placed on scholarship
  • Ensemble to which a student will be assigned



OSU offers multiple auditioned and unauditioned groups for students who are music majors OR non-music majors.

Cantamus (Women's Choir)University
Singers, and Statesmen (Men's Choir) do NOT require a formal audition. Just sign up!
